Ways to Volunteer
Volunteering your time can be a critical way to support the project. With limited full-time staff, volunteers provide much of the support we need to care for these birds. While volunteering can be a large time commitment, it can be extremely rewarding. Some of our volunteers have been with us more than two decades, regularly helping as support at the facility, educational programs, and bird for rescue and transport.
Facility Crew
We are always looking for volunteers to help with facility maintenance and caring for the birds at the San Antonio, Texas facility on a regular basis. While hard work, the general cleaning of both the facility and bird chambers is critical to ensuring a healthy environment. General maintenance is also part of our regular schedule, from mowing and raking, to repairs around the facility.
Facility crew will also learn about and support the daily feeding and exercise routines of the raptors.
We are looking for people who are interested in making a regular time commitment to support the staff.
Specialty Projects
Some of our volunteers bring unique skills to the project, such as construction, landscaping, plumbing, and electrical. Other volunteers use their creativity to make jewelry and artwork we sell on location at some of our public presentations to help raise funds for the organization.
We even have one long-time volunteer who used his airplane to deliver an injured Bald Eagle so the bird arrived in our care in under two hours instead of a stressful half-day car ride.
If you have a skill you would like to offer, please contact us and find out if we have a need to match.
